GCS was represented at the Google Data Center Robotics Workshop hosted by COSI on Saturday, September 21st, for middle school aged youth. It was an all-day event sponsored by Google.
The day started at check-in with making your own LED illuminated name badge from a schematic and loose parts. Breakfast and lunch was provided.
During lunch, we built BrushBots made from a brush, battery, motor, tape, and wiring. Robot building was in two phases: a base bot before lunch and a claw bot to attach to the base after lunch.
Two high school teams from Northland presented their concepts and prototype bot to demonstrate and answer questions about competition.Representatives from Google and the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation were there to encourage ingenuity and invention.
Competition was fierce and it was hard to resist battling each other instead of scoring points by moving objects.
The day ended fast and was a great experience that encouraged team building, collaboration, and competition. Thanks to all who contributed to make this a success.

Thank you to the students and volunteers who helped with our mum delivery yesterday. Thank you for supporting GCS!

The GCS elementary volleyball team were serious Eagles fan at the JH and Varsity games! They had a super fun evening of practicing with the JV team, making posters and cheering as loud as they could for the Eagles!

4-square 4-life. A new court is coming soon! Shout out to Mrs. D for painting the court!

Robotics starts with a thorough understanding of the challenge before the design can even begin. Here several GCS Robotics students are having a working lunch as they determine the strategy they want to take to the upcoming tournaments. Proverbs 11:14
